The Meadows, Beer
The existing dwelling, a dormer bungalow, with concrete tiles was not of architectural merit and sat uncomfortably on its site with imposing retaining walls tight to the external walls and an inaccessible rear garden. The proposal seeks to address these issues by locating the stairs centrally and allowing views and access to the rear garden from the half landing. The narrow path is infilled making the raised area wider and more useable by creating a private, south facing terrace with easy access. The first floor glass box to the front provides uninterrupted views over Beer and towards the coast and the large glazed areas to the southwest (rear bring in light and views of the garden)
The dwelling planning was granted permission in 2016, and the building was completed at the end of 2018.
